Our living room is by far the most used room in our house. We have the most cozy, deep-seated leather couches that only get better with time. There is nothing better than coming home from a long day and sinking back into the cushions with throw pillows of every size surrounding you…only to find your dog has already found the best spot.
Being a stickler for a clean space, I wash our throw pillow covers and blankets routinely, however, the actual pillows cannot be machine washed. This bothered me.
I needed a quick easy solution to keep my pillows fresh and clean.
So, after barely 5 minutes of essential oil mixing, I began spritzing away smells, germs and other unwanted microbes. Problem solved!
This DIY spray is not only useful for throw pillows and throw blankets, but also for bed linens, clothes you don’t wash as often and even for travel. It smells great while being completely functional. Tea tree oil is a natural antimicrobial, so including it into the blend helps kill many strains of bacteria, viruses and fungi!
Heres how to make your very own DIY linen spray 🙂
Ingredients:
1 ounce water (I use distilled so it doesn’t spoil as quickly)
1 ounce witch hazel (you can also use vodka)
3 drops eucalyptus essential oil
3 drops lemon essential oil
3 drops lavender essential oil
4 drops tea tree essential oil
3 drops peppermint essential oil
Directions:
Add all ingredients to a 2 ounce colored (usually amber or blue) glass spray bottle. Sake well for 15-20 seconds and before each use. Mist away!
